Clinic Location: Summertown Studio, Somerton Park
There is something magical about the community at Summertown Studio. I’ve been lucky enough to consult periodically in the beautiful space since the beginning of the decade. But even before then I was a regular patron (fan) sipping oat chai’s, browsing the curated book collection, eyeballing various dried floral bouquets and patting friendly dogs. I thought I’d take advantage of my new blog to introduce you to this delightful clinic location.
Summertown Studio is the love child of two very dynamic and magnetic movers-and-shakers Sarah Bradford and Sharni Honor. The ladies spoke on a Heaps Good Adelaide podcast episode about the formation of the studio, a great listen for your next morning jog.
The ladies opened their doors in early 2019 as a home for great coffee, productive co-working, a delightfully curated shopfront and event space. From there it has grown to house fashion designers, pilates gurus, pottery workshops, environmental documentary nights, a built in coffee shop with gluten free brownies and so much more!
One of the most desired components of Summertown is the delightful coffee (and delightful people who pour it!). The beans served are De Groot from Victor Harbour. They also have an incredibly diverse array of milk including oat, macadamia, soy, almond… I could go on. What a treat to have fresh beverages metres from your naturopathic consultation!
The shopfront is also home to an array of goodies and gifts from clever creators like The Lost Tribe, Etikette, Yeo Haus and more.
Sharni, 50% of the Summertown dynamic duo, is also the brains and muscles behind The Porch Sessions. It’s definitely fair to say she is supremely qualified to curate a diverse and exciting record store smack bang in the middle of Summertown, and that’s exactly what she's done! Porch Records! I don’t often leave a clinic week in Adelaide without three or four new records. I'm listening to my new Julia Jacklin record as I’m writing this blog post!
Sarah, the remaining 50% of the Summertown trust, is one of the most clever florists I've ever seen! Her flower bar for Sunday’s Designs Co. is also found under this one cosy roof! My mum never lets me return from a Summertown trip without a new bunch of dried florals she’s been eying off via instagram. I have the most beautiful bouquet of grasses and natives next to my bed and its the single most lovely sight to wake up to!
As if that wasn’t enough?! If you take a few sweet steps up to the loft you will find the gorgeous, strong and knowledgable Renee from RE PT. Each day Renee hosts an array of functional pilates classes from foundations to foam roller classes. She is graceful, inspiring and makes everything look incredibly easy until you try it yourself!
I host my consultations in a secluded office at the back of the studio one week of each month. It is tranquil, airy and clad with florals and the herbal dispensary I pack into my little van and drive 700km for each visit. This is the dream space to have vibrant discussions about health promoting changes and treatment techniques to address health goals.
